Programs offered

Hong Kong offers two basic options for skilled workers wanting to migrate to the country: The General Employment Policy for those candidates that have a Job offer and a General Points test for those without such an offer.

·         General Employment Policy: Foreign nationals who wish to migrate to Hong Kong must possess a job offer in hand before applying under this program. Besides this, they must posses the right combination of skills, knowledge and experience. The salary offer must be within the limits prevalent in the general job market for the particular job applied for.

·         General Points Test: This is a points based VISA allotment and immigration scheme.

·         No job offer is necessary provided a minimum of 80 points are scored by the candidate on the assessment.

·         Points are allotted on the age factor in the brackets of ages 18-30: 30 points, 40-44:20 points, 45-50: 15 points, 51+: 0 points

·         Educational qualification is judged as: Two or more PhD degrees: 45 points, One PhD or two Masters degrees: 40 points, Masters degree or two bachelors degrees: 35 points, Bachelors degree / Professional Qualification: 30 points.

·         Work experience is rated on the basis of the number of years spent in a professional role, distinguished as general and senior roles in brackets of 10+ years: 50 points, 5+ years: 40 points, and 2+ years: 10 points.

·         Language proficiency in both English and Chinese is given 20 points, while that in Chinese or English in combination with a foreign language is awarded 15 points and proficiency in either of the two languages is awarded 10 points.

·         Family background is judged as: 5 points for having an immediate family member as a permanent resident, 5 points for each child accompanying (maximum 2), 5 points for accompanying educated spouse with a degree.
